Catch Benjamin Bratt's striking presence on-screen, and you'll want to see more of this gifted, up-and-coming actor.

From Latina magazine No hay problema:  His career is presently on a dual track that should soon lead to increased visibility.  On NBC's crime drama Law & Order he plays Detective Reynaldo Curtis, a character rewritten to match Bratt's own mixed ethnicity (Peruvian Indian, American and German).  He also costars in Follow Me Home, a multicultural road movie released this past February and directed by his equally talented brother, Peter.

It is the first film by their production company,  Chacras (Quechua for "fertile soil for planting") Filmworks, but Bratt almost didn't get the part.  His brother thought he was "too pretty" to play Abel, the thuggish Chicano drug addict and artist, yet Bratt's powerful portrayal resulted in critical praise.

"I take my work seriously, but I'm not a brooder.  I like to celebrate life,"  says the 33-year-old San Francisco native.  "From both (indiginous and Hispanic) cutures, I have gained a passion for life, a deep love for my family and friends, and gratitude to the Creator for all the blessings I have received."

Influenced by his mother's values, Bratt maintains a selective attitude towards women.  "I like to think that I have a good B.S. dectector," he says.  "I like to spend time with people who are intent on making a difference... others think that sounds corny, but that's what it's all about for me."
